Beach Resort Fencing: 3,000 m of WPC Fencing for 120 Villas in the Mediterranean

A beach resort sells privacy as much as sea views. When a 120-villa resort on the Greek island of Crete began its landscaping phase, every villa needed an outdoor privacy fence that blocked neighboring sight lines, survived salt spray and 70 km/h summer winds, and looked expensive for the next twenty years. Timber would not last; metal would corrode or glare in the sun. The landscape architect chose wpc fencing - 3,000 linear meters of vertical-slat composite fencing in a warm sand color.

The Challenge: Coastal Conditions That Eliminate Materials

Salt-air corrosion: galvanized steel posts needed, standard hardware excluded.

Wind load: fences on the seaward side must withstand sustained meltemi winds without flexing or loosening.

UV stability: 300+ days of sunshine per year; color fade must stay within ΔE 3 over 10 years.

Maintenance budget: the resort operates with minimal grounds staff; zero-painting was a hard requirement.

Aesthetics: warm, natural wood-like appearance that suits Cycladic architecture with its white walls and blue accents.

Timber was eliminated in the first review: maintenance and replacement cost over 15 years exceeded composite fencing by a wide margin, and salt exposure guaranteed warping. Powder-coated metal was considered, but its glare and industrial look did not fit the resort's palette. Composite fencing was the only material that met every criterion.

Supplier Selection: Engineering Data Over Samples

The resort's procurement team shortlisted three manufacturers. The decisive qualification step was a technical questionnaire covering:

Question

Requirement

Naturwing Response

Wind-load data

Documented span limits for 70 km/h

Load tables + deflection test report

Salt-spray test

≥1,000-hour ASTM B117

1,200-hour report passed

UV fade data

ΔE ≤3 after 2,000 h QUV

ΔE 2.4 measured

Post & rail system

Aluminum or composite, corrosion-free

Aluminum post + hidden bracket

Color program

Custom sand tone match

Pantone-matched, sample approved

Naturwing (Hangzhou Feihuang Industry Co., Ltd.) won the order. The factory's in-house extrusion and color compounding meant the custom sand tone could be matched against the resort's wall render - and reproduced batch after batch.

Production & Phased Delivery

The 3,000 m program was produced in three shipments of ~1,000 m each, synchronized with villa handover phases. Each shipment:

Produced in 16–18 days per batch (vertical slat profiles, pre-cut to length).

Packed with edge protection for slat faces; posts and brackets palletized separately.

100% pre-shipment inspection with per-pallet photo reports.

Shipped via Piraeus with 6–8 day transit; each phase arrived within its 2-week install window.

The installation crew - working from the factory's fixing drawings - completed each villa screen in under a day: aluminum posts anchored to concrete footings, slats clipped into hidden brackets, zero exposed fasteners on the outward face.

Scaling the Program: Phase 2 and Beyond

The success of the first phase triggered an immediate follow-on: 1,800 m of wpc fencing for the resort's beach club and staff areas, plus matching gate panels. The repeat order took four weeks from PO to arrival - the second batch of any program is faster because the color reference, tooling and packing spec already exist. For resort groups planning multiple properties, a single wpc fence supplier with a stored color program and documented wind-load data becomes a strategic asset, not just a vendor. The resort's landscaping director's summary: "We stopped thinking of fencing as a commodity the day the meltemi wind tested our first 100 meters."

One detail the resort owner appreciated most: the vertical slat spacing was engineered to block sight lines while letting wind pass through - the difference between a privacy screen that survives a Greek summer and one that acts as a sail. For coastal projects, wpc fencing is only as good as its wind-load engineering, and that is a document, not a promise.
