HPL Compact Laminate Exterior Panel - High-Pressure Laminate Rainscreen Cladding for Facades, Balconies & Wet Areas

HPL Compact Laminate Exterior Panel - The Professional Choice for Rainscreen Contractors, Partition Manufacturers & Building-Material Distributors
HPL Compact Laminate Exterior Panel is a self-supporting high-pressure laminate board built from decorative surface sheets and phenolic-resin-impregnated kraft-paper layers fused under high pressure and temperature into a homogeneous, non-laminated-looking core. Engineered for rainscreen and facade contractors, toilet-partition and locker manufacturers and specifiers working on public and commercial buildings, it delivers weather, UV, moisture, scratch and stain resistance in a 6–13mm board that needs no substrate and can be cut and drilled with standard woodworking tools.
A compact board is bought for one structural reason: it holds itself up . Because the phenolic core is dense and homogeneous rather than a thin skin over a soft centre, the sheet can be fixed as a rainscreen leaf or as a cubicle panel with nothing behind it, and the same 6–13mm section serves both duties.
That matters most where two trades would otherwise meet. On a washroom package the partition, the duct casing, the vanity front and the external louvre can all be cut from one board family - one colour, one edge detail, one fixing schedule - instead of a laminate for the interior and a separate cladding product for the facade. Fabricators already running panel saws and CNC routers need no new tooling.
Weathering is the line the exterior grades must clear. Phenolic resin, not a surface coating, is what resists rain, humidity, repeated wetting and drying, and the UV load on a south elevation. Board colour and surface come from the decorative sheet pressed into the face, so the finish is part of the panel rather than something that has to be renewed. Standard formats run 1220×2440mm with 1300×2800mm available where a longer sheet reduces joint count.
Panels are manufactured in Hangzhou, China by Hangzhou Feihuang Industry Co., Ltd. and exported under the naturwing brand. Buyers in Western Europe, North America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East order either as full pallets of one grade or as mixed pallets that cover an exterior rainscreen schedule alongside the interior cubicle and locker work on the same building.

Why Specifiers Choose Exterior HPL Compact Laminate
1. Phenolic Core : Engineered for Exterior Weathering
Layers of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin are fused into a dense homogeneous board, so the panel resists rain, humidity, temperature cycling and sunlight where standard interior laminate cannot be used.
Key Benefits:
Weather resistance built into the core : rain and repeated wetting do not reach a soft centre because there is none
UV stability across the face : sunlight on a south elevation does not bleach the decorative sheet away
Heat tolerance in service : the board takes the temperature swing between winter shade and summer sun
Moisture without swell : wet rooms, showers and humid lobbies leave the section unchanged
Exterior grade, interior finish range : the same embossed and solid surfaces are available on both grades
Exterior-grade classification is the difference between an interior decorative panel and a facade product - it opens the whole external-cladding market rather than only furniture work.

2. Self-Supporting 6–13mm Board : No Substrate Behind It
A compact laminate panel carries its own rigidity, so it can be fixed as a rainscreen leaf or partition without a backing board, and it cuts and drills with standard woodworking tools.
Key Benefits:
No backing board to buy : one material in the build-up replaces a skin-plus-carrier assembly
Familiar fabrication : panel saws, routers and standard cutters handle every operation
Thinner wall zones : a 6–13mm leaf frees depth on balconies and within service risers
Lighter assembly to handle : two fitters can place a sheet without lifting equipment on most elevations
Simple on-site adjustment : cut-outs for sockets, louvres and fixings are made at the bench
Removing the substrate removes a whole supply line and a labour operation from the project - two costs that decide whether the cladding package is competitive.

3. One Material for Facade, Balcony, Locker and Washroom
The same board family covers rainscreen cladding, balcony railing covers, louvres, outdoor signage, toilet cubicles, shower partitions and lockers.
Key Benefits:
One colour across the scheme : the exterior rain screen and the interior cubicle front read as the same finish
Fewer products to approve : one submission covers several scopes on the same building
Smaller stock position : fewer grades and thicknesses to hold for the same project coverage
Consistent edge detailing : the same trim family closes exterior and interior junctions
Spares that stay valid : replacement panels come from the same range years later
Distributors win on range efficiency - one material covering multiple project scopes reduces inventory risk while widening the specification footprint.

4. Scratch, Stain and Graffiti Resistant : Low Lifetime Cost
The dense surface resists scratching from daily use and cleans back with normal detergents, which matters on high-traffic walls, partitions and lockers.
Key Benefits:
Marks come off : pen, grease and shoe scuffs respond to ordinary cleaning agents
Scratch resistance in traffic : trolleys, bags and keys leave the surface intact
Termite and borer proof : the phenolic core offers insects nothing to digest
No recoating programme : there is no paint or film that has to be renewed later
Cleanability that survives review : maintenance cost is assessed with purchase price on public projects
On education, healthcare and public projects the maintenance regime is assessed alongside purchase price - a cleanable surface survives value-engineering reviews.

5. Fire-Retardant Grades and Design Flexibility
Flame-retardant grades are available alongside solid-colour, wood-grain and stone-texture finishes, with panel sizes up to 1300×2800mm.

Key Benefits:
Compliant and decorative together : a fire-retardant grade does not force a plain finish
Longer sheets, fewer joints : 1300×2800mm trims the joint count on tall elevations
Texture options beyond colour : embossed stone and wood surfaces without a separate product line
Matching trims and edges : junction pieces supplied from the same range
Documentation for the submittal : grade evidence travels with the order
Public and commercial interiors are gated by fire documentation, and a range that offers both decorative and compliant grades keeps the specification with one supplier.

Company Strength

The pressed board is produced at the Hangzhou works of Hangzhou Feihuang Industry Co., Ltd., the manufacturer whose export business trades as naturwing. Impregnation, lay-up, pressing, trimming and palletising are controlled inside one plant, and the exterior grades are pressed against the same internal reference so a second order lands on the first order's colour and section.
Our Manufacturing Capabilities:
Kraft paper impregnation and lay-up carried out under factory control
Press cycles logged per batch, so an exterior grade can be traced back to its run
Trimming, edge sealing and cut-to-size work offered before the pallet is closed
Solid-colour, wood-grain and stone embossed tooling held in-house
Fire-retardant and standard grades pressed from the same sheet stock
Mixed-grade pallets assembled for projects that use both exterior and interior boards
Quality Assurance:
Each pressed batch is retained as a physical control sample
Face colour is compared with the approved sample before packing begins
Section thickness and squareness are gauged on finished sheets
Boil-and-recovery checks confirm the exterior grade behaves as specified
Edge sealing is inspected on every cut-to-size consignment
Grade and batch are recorded on the pallet label for site reconciliation

FAQ
Q: How many boards do I need to order?
A: Between 20 and 100 pieces, set by the grade and the thickness. A project that needs a retardant grade and a standard grade together can be palletised as one consignment.
Q: Which thicknesses are held?
A: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm in the exterior compact grades. Cubicle work usually takes the thinner sections, facades the thicker ones, and a single project can draw on both.
Q: What surface finishes are produced?
A: Solid colour, wood grain, stone and texture embossed finishes. Because the decorative sheet is pressed into the face, the finish and the board are one material.
Q: Can it be used for an external facade?
A: Yes - that is what the exterior compact grades are pressed for. Rain, humidity, temperature cycling and sunlight are resisted by the phenolic core rather than by a coating.
Q: Does it need a backing board?
A: No. The compact section is self-supporting, so a leaf can be fixed to a rainscreen support or used as a cubicle panel with nothing behind it.
Q: How is it cut on site?
A: With the tools a joinery shop already has - panel saw, router, standard cutters. Openings are best made at the bench, and cut edges must be sealed before the sheet is fixed.
Q: Are fire-retardant grades available?
A: Yes, and they do not restrict the finish range. Retardant and standard grades are offered in the same colour and texture options.
Q: How does it perform in washrooms and showers?
A: The core does not absorb water, the surface cleans back with ordinary detergent, and the same board serves cubicles, shower surrounds, lockers and vanity fronts.
Q: What is the lead time, and how does it ship?
A: 15–30 days depending on grade and finish. Pallets are edge-protected for export, and mixed-grade consignments are labelled by grade so the site can sort them against the drawings.
